Practicando, jugando, avanzando. La musiquita es del colega Dj Rupture.
Animation workshop.
Friends, here are some the pieces we've been doing with the kids in the animation workshop. We´ll carry on until the end of September...practicing, playing and advancing. The music's from Dj Rupture...we've got the the whole of the Cambalacha humming it!!
The locals use 4 main forms of transport.
The most common being the Tuc-Tuc, a kind of 3-wheel motorbike which, pushing it, can fit a whole family and their weekly shopping.
For longer journey's, there's the Chicken Bus, a colourfully painted bus with no suspension. What with the pot holes and the crazy drivers, it's more like a roller coaster ride than a bus journey.
Then there's the Pick-up, which is used to take children to school... the quantity of jocotitos that pile in is amazing.
On the lake there are wooden canoes used by the fishermen.
Api
Api,in his house, performing his personal project; CLOWN. Api forms part of EA, who are the oldest group in the acambalacha. They have recieve workshops and also take part in the workshops with the littluns. The act is about a dustbin man who, is so tired of coming across huge mounds of rubbish, he invents alternative uses for the different objects he finds. Api is deaf and dumb although he can hear very load music. He's extremely expressive and made us laugh a lot! Thanks to his family for letting us into their home to film Api's work.

Puppets with the little Cambalachines
A Story made up by the children with their puppets.
Once upon a time there was a family of penguins.
They went out to play with their neighbours; Mummy Elephant and her two twin sons. They were having so much fun, laughing and jumping around when suddenly they heard thunder...BoooOOOM! And lightening! Flasssssh! It began to poor down with rain. They thought it was best to make they way back home quickly. On the way, they bumped into there other animal friends; the Lion, the Tortoise, the Snake, the Monkey and the Bird. They began chatting, blah de blah de blah....they were so happy to see eachother, they decided to all head down to the lake’s shore and to play. As they were nearing the water's edge they realized that they were supposed to be going home! They looked up and saw that the sun was shinning through a gap in the clouds and that the storm had passed. They jumped into the water, splashing around and laughing.
THE END
This afternoon it started raining, this time harder than ever. We haven't risked going to down to play by the lakes shore to see if the sun will come out. It doesn't look like it's going to clear up...At dinner they told us that sometimes it rains like this for 3 days solidly!

Jesus loves you my friends

Guisquil.
The vegetable you can see in the photo is Guisquil. It grows on a tine vine which looks like it couldn't bear the weight of it's own vegetables. there's one in The Cambalacha which we water with love and it turn it produces a plentiful crop. It's like a squash and as it's in season we're eating plenty of it. The most common foods here are red beans, rice, eggs, corn tortillas, there's also lot's of chilli, delicious soups from the market stands, tamales made from corn, boiled and served in huge banana leafs, chipiílin soup and of course the cocoa and coffee are delicious... we'll have to come back another time to try jocotes, a fruit that grows on big old trees all around San Marcos. The children can't wait for them to mature and eat them green with salt and chilli. And yes, we've been trying out the local beers; Gallo a blonde beer and our favorite, Moza, rich and dark.....
(Mums, of course we miss your home made food)

Shadow puppet show
Along with these beautiful images was the laughter of children playing with their puppets, making up noises and conversations between the different animals whilst hiding underneath the bench.
This is part of the workshop we're doing with the some of the youngest children: 6 and 7 year olds.
Gaspar's house.
The other day Gaspar invited us to his home to work on his personal project: rap. their dinner's cooking on the fire and behind his sister has just wrapped up his niece after her bath. A beautiful, friendly family.
